Last week Corporate Innovations and our loyal clients Royal Caribbean International (RCI) attended the inaugural Wave Awards held at the Royal Kensington Hotel.

The award categories are assessed by an independent panel of cruise travel experts as well as separate public voting. The Wave Awards are to set a benchmark for achieving excellence in the travel market.

We were entered into the ‘Best Digital Website or Platform’ category with the Club Royal programme which is RCI’s trade loyalty and incentive programme targeted at driving sales and educating their travel agents across UK & Ireland. Since the start of Club Royal RCI have invested over £1million into the programme. The programme is currently in its second year and has grown to over 10,000 members due to its generous rewards, money can’t buy events and special benefits.

On the night we were up against strong opposition from Cruise Nation and Voyages of Antiquity and the judges had some heated debate over this category as all the entries were strong but so very different to each other. They obviously saw Club Royal as the overall winner and an innovative step for trade partner loyalty. 

Thankfully Club Royal won the award for ‘Best Digital Website or Platform’ which was fantastic, but then it got me thinking what does this mean to us and our client RCI?

For us, it’s great to get recognition for the hard work that has gone into developing and running the Club Royal programme.  It helps demonstrate our thinking and vision for the programme which has hit the mark with the audience and sector after 6 months of planning. To receive recognition and endorsement from the travel industry experts helps to demonstrate our understanding of the RCI brand, sector and most importantly the travel agents.

What does this mean for our client RCI? Well it demonstrates that the Club Royal programme is a ground breaking programme that is an industry first within the cruise sector. We expect to see an increase in awareness of the programme through trade press aiding to the growth of new members and more importantly driving sales for the RCI brand with the support of loyal and engaged travel agents.
