I've been thinking about this blog for some time. When I first ventured into the world of Account Management I found it to be somewhat challenging, as you do with any new job I guess. I was being entrusted with my employer’s most valued client relationships and I began to doubt myself, what if I wasn't good enough? What if I destroyed all my predecessor’s hard work? What if... Of course it didn't take long before I found my feet and all of my "what if's..." disappeared and I have never looked back.

Now I'm not saying that it’s a walk in the park or it doesn't have it's downfalls but it's definitely ME and it was worth working at! As with anything, Account Management can become over complicated but it shouldn't be. In fact it’s quite simple.

The foundations come down to the following key fundamentals:

TRUST - the bonding agent that solidifies the relationship between two businesses. It needs to be constantly nurtured, in my opinion trust is the catalyst for driving growth and loyalty, solidifying a long term relationship.

COMMITMENT - being a yes man has no equity what so ever. If it can't physically be done in that time frame, at that cost, or sent by that date, don't say it can. Your reputation is only as good as your word. I would always rather over deliver than under deliver.

UNDERSTANDING - being able to successfully support and deliver for your clients you need to understand what they are up against, you can never ask too many questions or know too much, a problem shared is a problem halved and can add that ever important value to your relationship. At Corporate Innovations no project is the same, there is no ‘one shape fits all’.

Each project is bespoke, tailored to meet the client’s individual objectives, and maximise their ROI which takes us back to the importance of TRUST, COMMITMENT and UNDERSTANDING. The client is king and a great relationship is gold dust!
