So what does winning an award mean to you?

Last week Corporate Innovations and our loyal clients Royal Caribbean International (RCI) attended the inaugural Wave Awards held at the Royal Kensington Hotel. We were entered into the ‘Best Digital Website or Platform’ category with the Club Royal programme which is RCI’s trade loyalty and incentive programme targeted at driving sales and educating their travel agents across UK & Ireland. Since the start of Club Royal RCI have invested over £1million into the programme. The programme is currently in its second year and has grown to over 10,000 members due to its generous rewards, money can’t buy events and special benefits.

Looking back to move forward in 2016

At our kickoff meeting last week I likened our situation to that of Tim Peake, the British ESA astronaut, who changed so many elements of his lifestyle to make sure he was ready for his trip into space. His diet, levels of exercise. It all had to change. So we look forward into 2016 progressing our internal behavioural change to include efficiencies; through people, processes and the use of technology. Our next client event is programmed for March 2016, where we will have a great speaker to continue our learning, another real force in behavioural change.

Work/Life - do you have the balance?

Always wishing you could work less to spend more time with your family and friends, constantly worrying about dropping the ball? Relying on your iPhone calendar to remind you of the 101 things you have to do this week? We’ve all been there and we definitely all have the t-shirt, but that’s life right?

Accessibility is for everyone!

Accessibility is all about inclusion, opening up your site for everyone but what does it mean and why should we do it? By making your site accessible you are allowing people of all physical abilities to access it which is going to mean you can reach more people, however, I hear you say “we know our target audience and we know that none of them have any special requirements” - I expect you are forgetting one key audience type… robots!

Where is your office?

So, as everyone that belongs to the parenting world will know, the least ideal scenario is being woken at an ungodly hour by a less then well child knowing that the next day in the office is full of conference calls, a constant stream of emails and things you cannot fall behind on...

Work smart, take time.

In my experience, working quickly is not necessarily always working smart. People will state they got through 100 emails in a day or they stayed late to rush through a tricky project. All well and good if you are up against a tight deadline, but not so great if the work needs amending afterwards, oversights or resultant mistakes are made.

Five ways Imperatives are going to enrich me

The first thing about my resolutions is that they are not “New Year Resolutions”, they are issues that are personal “imperatives”, that I should have resolved to remedy at many a turn, however it’s all too easy to find reasons why we never get to these on our to-do list. The turn of the calendar merely marks time to the occasion that I choose to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and get the house in order, make me a better person, bring more karma and generally enrich my life. Maybe.

Let’s start thinking about Christmas

It’s a well-known fact that major retailers’ plans are pretty much locked and loaded in February for the following Christmas, after solid analysis of the previous year. And in all likelihood any NPD/ gift- with-purchase plans are also well underway by now (if they aren’t, do come and talk to us!)

Loyalty doesn’t exist in clients anymore.

The golden rules that were consistently repeated by everyone were refreshing and equally pleasing to us as it’s the core of our offering; have a clear plan, keep the message simple, believe what you say or don’t say it and be rigorous in what you do. I find it so rewarding listening to our clients and their route to success, as I have learnt, “listening” is a far greater skill than talking because all too often we rush to talk about our views or solution without fully understanding our clients’ challenges.

How has the FA managed to change behaviour in the England camp?

When you listen to Martin Glenn speak, as I recently had the opportunity to do at our Changing Behaviours event at The Ivy, he spoke, from his experience, of three enduring truths that will help anyone change behaviour whatever the situation. People having a willingness to listen, a company culture that embraces change and an understanding that things don’t always need to be done differently – they just need to be done better.
