Case Study - Pete Waterman motivates the Walkers sales team to ‘ask for more’

Walkers wanted to launch a solus sales operation combining 50 territory managers from 3 brands, Walkers, Quaker Oats and Tropicana. The objective of the conference was to review sales performance for the three brands, all of which now fulfil the corporate ID ‘PepsiCo and to motivate them to get their brand to the top of the retail charts this Christmas. The primary focus for the event was to create a fun environment, build relationships, motivate and reinforce the PepsiCo strap line, ‘Ask For More’.

The theme for the conference was ‘Top of the Pops’, a theme which underlined the brands primary objective, ‘to be the best of the best’ and to being ‘top of the charts for Christmas’.

The main conference kicked off in the morning followed by account specific sessions. After lunch delegates were divided into groups and using props and popular song titles their challenge was to produce their own “PepsiCo lyrics and dance routine. Each group returned to perform their acts using their props and their songs to a panel of judges. The judges comprised two senior directors from PepsiCo and a surprise guest judge Pete Waterman.

The stage was set, the pressure was on and one by one ‘Take That’, ‘Abba’, ‘Wet Wet Wet’ and many other famous bands appeared on stage and performed their songs which were then critiqued by the panel of judges.

For the evening’s gala dinner, delegates changed their attire to ‘Top of the Pops’ fancy dress and made their way to the themed gala dinner.

The conference theme achieved a real sense of fun but most importantly underlined the message “being number 1”. The evenings continued the sense of adventure with attendees really pressing the boundaries with fantastic costumes and look a likes making the evening seem like a star studded night.
